Rangers downfall hurts Celtic and SPL

Glasgow, well at least, part of it was in party mode earlier this weekend when Glasgow Rangers announced the club was going into administration, thereby essentially handing Celtic the title. Yes, without thinking, I would have been partying too. But the struggle of Rangers to keep money in their pockets does more harm than good to Celtic and the Scottish Premier League as a whole.

Celtic making offseason moves to overtake Rangers

With a fresh, new outlook coming into the 2011-2012 season, Celtic, and newly extended manager Neil Lennon, are looking for new talent to boost them on top of the Scottish Premier League.

Finishing a mere one point behind crosstown rival Rangers was certainly a disheartening way to close out the previous season. But after Lennon signed an extension just weeks ago, and Celtic threatening to make their first signing of the transfer window, the Hoops are showing signs of finally having their pieces in the right places.

Losing Their Man

As Celtic found themselves out of the race for the SPL title, the Glasgow side has many improvements to make, the first being solidifying their offense.

Irish international Robbie Keane is donning the Hoops jersey and scoring goals at a record pace. But lets not forget, in Celtic’s last match against their cross-town rival, Rangers, on Feb. 28, “Keano” couldn’t muster a goal and saw his side drop the match, 1-0, and slide another three points behind Gers. Currently, Celtic find themselves 10 points behind Rangers and have played one more game.

Celtic's eyes are smiling

So are their supporters.

After the dismal season Celtic is having so far (yes, better as of late) and the all-important 10 points they find themselves behind Rangers, the Hoops did what needed to be done. In what could/should be the best, most incredible transfer window to date for the Scottish giant, Celtic seemed poised and dedicated to chase down Rangers and claim the SPL title once again.
