Mr. Blatter, Something Needs to Change

Being a soccer fan in the United States means learning to deal with a few things. We understand a portion of our friends, co-workers and anyone else likely to stumble upon our Facebook pages thinks soccer is boring, un-American game. It is, after all, predicated upon not screwing up more than it’s about trying to strike as frequently as possible.

Unfortunately, the World Cup provided more ammunition for my narrow-minded cohorts as overworked officials continually failed to make proper calls or keep matches — even Sunday’s final — in line. Naturally, the blame falls on their shoulders rather than the FIFA officials consistently placing too heavy a burden upon them.

Inter Claim Europe and Secure Historic Treble

Inter Milan may have won the Champions League on Saturday night, but as Jose Mourinho led his Inter side around the Santiago Bernabeu for a lap of celebration, you got the feeling that it wouldn’t be long until Mourinho is back, but not with Inter Milan.

Mourinho may have just won Inter, their first treble, but I feel that still won’t be enough for Inter to keep the Special One, and with Mourinho’s love hate relationship in Italy, it looks like this is another marriage that will end in tears.

Battle at the Bernabéu For Champions League Glory

So it all comes down to this; 90 minutes of football between Inter Milan of Serie A and Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga will decide which side is Europe’s best.

There will even be English involvement as well, but not in the way you may think. Premier League referee Howard Webb is the lucky/unlucky man (depending on your view) who has been selected to take charge of club football’s biggest game. His performance will be scrutinized, evaluated and taken apart piece by piece, rather him than me.
